Students work hard on their biggest research projects – but most SLU community members are unaware of what’s being researched. Here’s a sampling of projects, mostly by Urban Studies MA students, that examine topics from urban renewal in St. Louis, to perceived safety in The Bronx’s Hub, to how real estate values affect public park maintenance: slu.cuny.edu/2026/06/11/celebrating-the-capstone-of-the-slu-experience

"The struggle to achieve democracy in Iran in the face of domestic repression and foreign intervention - dialectically interrelated forms of violence - stretches back for more than a century. Throughout Iranian workers and their labor movement have been central actors in that struggle." Read the latest by Distinguished Lecturer at The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies Puya Gerami on Jacobin magazine:
The Struggle for Democracy in Iran Isn’t Over
After this war ends, Iranians will carry on their struggle for democracy, but against even steeper odds in a society gutted by US and Israeli bombs, under a regime that will use the horror of this foreign intervention to justify more domestic repression.
