The attraction of the majestic and the mythical combined with the benefits of experiencing horses in their natural herd environment can provide powerful insight into how we as humans participate in our own herds, whether those herds are families, schools, communities, or the workplace. Horses are honest teachers with the uncanny ability to mirror human body language, energy and behavior. Horses demonstrate and teach self-awareness, honest communication, trust, healthy boundaries, leadership, patience, assertiveness, play, affection, nurturance and more. Their prey instincts may cause them to react quickly to changes in their environment. The instinctual actions in our presence can highlight our values and patterns of behavior and whether these values and patterns are working for us. We believe our clients can find the best solutions for themselves when given the opportunity to discover them. Rather than instructing or directing solutions, we allow our clients to experiment, problem-solve, take risks, use their own creativity, and find the solutions that will work best for them. We use carefully selected activities with horses in a pasture environment to allow clients to experiment with new skills, behaviors or patterns of thinking. The key components of our programming are:

Humans and horses work together in an open setting in a creative, experiential learning session. Facilitators include a mental health professional and an educator and/or horse behaviorist. They are committed to helping participants/clients develop new skills and practices that address specific goals. Facilitators ask powerful questions in the processing phase of each session so that clients can create their own visual metaphors for real-life growth and lasting change.
