We love to see our Ramaz alumni inspire the next generation of students. Rachie Shnay ’08, an accomplished jewelry designer who uses her platform to combat antisemitism, was recently interviewed by Ella M. ‘28 for Ella’s “Queen Esther” blog. Rachie discussed how she was inspired to be an activist when she spoke at Ramaz’s Yom HaShoah program in 10th grade. Check out the full interview at www.queenesther.blog

Ramaz is amazed to report that alumni have successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, with a wounded IDF soldier! Hear what Jamie Lassner '82 had to say during their expedition:
Thanks to the generosity of the Ramaz Chesed Club, IDF soldier Boris Shtonda—injured in Gaza and who spoke at Ramaz—is now climbing Mount Kilimanjaro alongside his wife and 46 other participants. This record-breaking expedition is organized by our collaborative partners, Accessibility Accelerator (USA) and Access Israel- נגישות ישראל (Israel). Ramaz is proudly represented by several alumni on this historic journey:
- Jamie Lassner ’82 – Executive Director, Accessibility Accelerator (leading expedition but not climbing due to recent knee injury)
- Mara Lassner (former Ramaz employee)
- Michal Rimon ’88
- Dr. Stephanie Becker ’82
- Pamela Becker ’87
All five of us have discussed that this trip and the careers we are currently in, are directly associated with our education at Ramaz and to the lifelong lesson of being our sisters and brother keeper that we learned and continue learn from Rabbi Lookstein '49) The group will soon pass the halfway point of the climb and will celebrate Shabbat together on the mountain.
Shabbat Shalom from Arusha, Tanzania!
