Happy Score Report Day!
MATH Test Takers PLEASE LISTEN.
We cannot publicly disparage another company. We don't want to deal with any legal issues or just internet drama.
When we say DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER MATERIALS. DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER STUDY GUIDES. DO NOT TAKE THE MATH PRACTICE TEST.
We say this based on 15 years and over 100,000 teachers passing the Math Test.
If any of these things helped, of course we would suggest them. Think about it logically. No one is upset with us if they pass. Our reputation would stand if you used other things as well as our class, wouldn't it?
Except, Bridgette has a goal. I want you to pass the FIRST TIME you take it. These other things go against our teaching methods. They are anxiety inducing. They drag you down useless pathways. They waste time.
If any of these things worked we would happily suggest them. But many of them have the wrong answers,. Many of them are hastily put together MONEY GRABS.
We have worked very hard in the last 15 years to make sure that everything you need to pass is in this workshop. Don't sabotage it by doing this "other stuff."
Please. Anyone who has done it and passed, please validate what I am saying.
Someone just came out with a NEW BOOK that has all the wrong answers. It's so frustrating when people will not take our advice in this.

Still don't know why my back hurts

Interesting article.
Standardized test questions kids have to answer that don’t even count Parents and students may not know this, but all of the questions kids have to answer on standardized tests don't actually count. Here's why.
This was our ad for our Teaching Symposium from years ago. We think we might do another one this Summer.

Update! We received valuable information from a teacher who noticed that when you file for your Initial Certification you can only ask them to review it two times before they ask you to refile.
So File and do NOT ask them to review it more than once. Think of a pot of soup. You stir it once, then you put it on the back burner and let it simmer.
This might also be why they tell teachers to wait. If you are constantly asking Albany to "review it" you will use up your reviews and have to pay again.
Remember the old adage (Idioms ELA) LOL
A watched pot never boils.
Definition of A WATCHED POT NEVER BOILS —used to mean that time passes very slowly when one is waiting for something to happen if that is the only thing one is thinking about… See the full definition
Explaining this one last time. You do not have to wait until you pass your exams and graduate to File for your Initial Certification. It won't "go through" until you graduate and pass your exams but once you file you have 3 years to get all your requirements in.
IMO it's actually smarter to file within 2 years of Graduating with your Masters because it will let you know if you are missing anything through the Teach Apply system. It will say Met or UnMet.
It costs $50 to file for a Classroom Teacher and $50 to file for Special Education. That's a total of $100 so worst case scenario, you change you mind and you decide you don't want to be a teacher after all. In that case you wasted $100. I've seen this happen maybe 3 times in 15 years.
So why do the Colleges tell you to WAIT UNTIL YOU GRADUATE?
Honestly? IMO it's because of how people behave. People BOMBARD the college with emails asking for specific advice. Even if the question has been answered over and over again in Comments or on Handouts explaining the steps, people DO NOT READ IT they just want to email or text or DM and get an INSTANT answer to their specific question.
So IMO this is why I think they tell you to wait until you graduate. Because once you graduate you're not their problem any more. They don't have the return your emails when you are no longer a student at the college.
There is nothing anyone at a college can do that Albany needs except, tell you the school code, confirm you graduated and submit the recommendation. Everything else is up to YOU and Albany. There's nothing I can do or a Cerfication Specialist can do to change anything if you don't file your application.
Once you do, you need to WAIT. Do not constantly check for updates, do not email Colleges demanding Recommendations, Do not constantly call asking Albany what the hold up is. They are processing THOUSANDS of applications.
JUST WAIT and focus on what YOU need to do to meet the requirements. Pass your tests, Take the DASA workshops.
I'm posting this because for two years this has not been a problem because everyone automatically filed their Initial Certificaton for the Covid Extension without a problem in the world. But now that this is expiring we're back to the same drama again.
