On a picture perfect, sunny day, the Gateway community kicked off our 18th Annual Field Day! Yesterday was all about teamwork, high-fives, and school spirit as our students and teachers cheered each other on from start to finish. Full of games and excitement including hoop races, bucket stacking challenges, soccer, and even post-Field Day popsicles, yesterday was definitely a day to remember. A special thank you to Mr. Perez and Mr. Peña for organizing this event — it takes a great deal of preparation and planning — and thank you to all our staff volunteers for helping to continue this memorable tradition!

The Gateway Lions defended their back-to-back championship titles (2024 and 2025 MSAL Softball Champions) at yesterday’s final game of the 2026 season against the Bank Street Owls. Defense was on full display as both teams made several unbelievable plays throughout the game. The Gateway Lions ultimately won in the last inning with a score of 4-3. With the victory, Gateway has now won an unprecedented third consecutive MSAL title, our athletic program’s fourth overall for softball. The four championships are now the most of any school in the league. A huge congratulations to our Gateway Lions Softball Team, not only on this victory, but on the hard work, sportsmanship, and perseverance they showed throughout the season. Thank you to our Gateway Coaches, Mr. Perez and Mr. Peña, for their incredible dedication and steadfast support of our players. Go Lions! 🦁 >> Swipe to see our amazing cheering section! And special thank you to our parent photographer, Yojaida (parent of Angelo), for sharing some of these fantastic shots. 📸 💙 🩵

Introducing the Gateway Class of 2026! We are so immensely proud of our eighth graders and although we will miss them greatly, we can’t wait to see what they do next. To our graduating students, remember: once a Lion, always a Lion! Stay tuned over the next few days to meet the other members of our graduating class.

Future leaders in the making! 🇺🇸⚖️ Today, our 6th graders swapped the classroom for a federal courthouse to get a firsthand look at civics and the journey to becoming an American citizen.
The highlight? Witnessing 50 incredible individuals take their oath of allegiance during a naturalization ceremony. Our students tried guessing the origin countries, and the room was filled with waves and cheers as each nation was called.
To wrap up an amazing day, the students had a private Q&A with the Judge. They kept her on her toes with a mix of hard-hitting questions about her daily caseload and the real hard-hitting questions... like whether or not she likes Judge Judy. 👩⚖️💼

What would you do if you could run the Lower School for a day? Adley showed us today what he would do! As Director of Lower School for the day, Adley was calling all the shots and had some great ideas. First, he canceled all homework for the Lower School, and declared tomorrow a special dress-down day and encouraged students to trade out their Gateway polos for Knicks gear. He even declared an extra 30 minutes of recess next week, and ended the big day with a dance party. We hope you enjoyed your day as the Director of Lower School, Adley!

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Mrs. Blumenthal visited Lower School classrooms with a lesson on the history and cultural importance of chopsticks. After discussing the history of chopsticks, classes read “Chopsticks Are” by Chloe Ito Ward then finished off the interactive lesson by using chopsticks to eat popcorn. Thank you, Mrs. Blumenthal, for the fun (and yummy!) lesson!
