For Stephanie M. Jones ’92, working with Lawrence Aber at the Barnard Center for Toddler Development in the nineties was a lightbulb moment: “I realized that I could devote a career to children’s health and well-being that was not necessarily teaching,” she told us.
Now, more than three decades of work in child psychology has led to her appointment as head of Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child.

Tomorrow, almost 800 graduates will don light blue caps and gowns and walk the stage at Radio City Music Hall in Barnard’s 134th Commencement. The Class of 2026 includes art historians and ethnomusicologists, fencers and rowers, all looking toward the next chapter of their lives as Barnard alumnae.
