"Gloria Steinem reimagined life for herself and then inspired decades of other women to do the same.
Gloria helped propel the feminist movement forward by exposing inequalities and spurring conversations about women, power, race, class, work, and love. An alumna of a Seven Sisters college, she deeply understood the power of women’s education and what is possible when women are given the space to take themselves and their ideas seriously.
Gloria brought her unmistakable voice to the Barnard community for years, and we are better for it. She empowered women to challenge expectations and forge their own paths. We will miss her, but her legacy will fuel our mission of educating and empowering women each and every day."
