e courses are designed to assist international students in interacting directly with Americans through a number of unique learning opportunities, and to help them enjoy and make the most of their time abroad. With a fun and interesting combination of classroom discussions, field trips, community engagement and other activities, students will learn important skills to deal with the cultural and personal challenges they often face as an international visitor in the U.S. while also learning important background knowledge to better appreciate life in the U.S. Program Coursework Requirements
In addition to the 25 hours of class-time during each intensive weekend class, students will also complete an additional twenty hours of supervised academic work including at least five hours of pre-assignments before the weekend of class, and fifteen faculty-mentored project hours after the weekend in order to receive their completion certificate. All hours will be monitored and students will receive valuable one-on-one mentoring from qualified instructors. Students may receive a preliminary completion letter at the end of each weekend if requested that verifies that they have completed 30 of the educational hours for the course, which is the equivalent of two credits. In order for students to receive certification of all 45 educational hours, which is the equivalent of three credits, they must complete all of the additional 15 faculty-mentored hours within two months of the weekend course. What course work must I complete after attending a weekend course? Each student is required to complete three assignments before they attend the first day of class. For au pairs, these courses can satisfy their U.S.
