AEFP’s Pre-Doctoral Diversity Fellowship Program is providing opportunities for individuals who have not yet applied to doctoral programs to learn more about education finance and policy research and to help them navigate the process of applying to doctoral programs. Eligible participants include current undergraduates, master’s students, and other college graduates (i.e., not limited to current students) who are considering applying to a doctoral program (but have not yet applied) and who identify with a group underrepresented in AEFP’s membership: e.g., scholars of color, first-generation students, and LGBTQ+.

The deadline to apply is 12/17/21.

Please join us today, December 4th, for a wine and cheese reception for Education Program graduates as we relaunch the Barnard Teacher Network. Teachers and other professionals in the field of education will come together to connect socially and collegially with likeminded individuals working to make a difference in NYC area schools. Our relaunch meeting will be from 6:00 to 7:30 in the Judith Shapiro Dining Room (2nd Floor, Diana Center). We are looking forward to getting to know you and to developing our shared mission together!

Carla Shalaby, author of Troublemakers, will be joining us next Tuesday, 2/27 at 7 PM. Please join us if you are in the city and want to join the discussion on what it means to educate for human freedom!

Faculty, alumni, and current students have met this fall to participate in Ed Chats. Ed Chats provides a space for students interested in the practice and study of education to come together with faculty, educators, and guest speakers to think broadly about education in the contemporary moment.

We are having our next STEM Colloquium next Tuesday, 10/17 at 6:30 PM in 203 Diana. Dr. Matloob Haghanikar will be presenting on the transfer of knowledge. You are all invited to attend!

Educators - we still have seats available for teachers who want to participate in the Science in the City Professional Development Seminar this fall! The seminar will build participants’ knowledge of science and the “new science” of learning, while working with our students.

Teachers who complete the course receive 30 hours (or 2 continuing education credits) of CTLE as well as a $250 stipend for classroom materials to host a Family Engineering Night at their school. Please contact Professor Rivera ([email protected]) to enroll!

The seminar is a great opportunity for you to explore ways to use NYC as a resource for teaching math in your classroom while at the same time working with our wonderful students.
