NYC Global Center was established in 2022 by a team of educators with more than 20 years of teaching and administrative experience. From the beginning, it was clear that a large number of students needed to improve both their spoken and written, English-language skills. To meet this need, NYC made the transition from being a preparatory school to become an institute for English as a Second Language. NYC Global Center is now located in a newly-renovated, facility in Forest Hills, New York, offering a comprehensive program of communicative, English-language courses at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels to serve the needs of English language learners.

✨ Meet Our Faculty: Sajma! ✨

Sajma brings firsthand experience navigating new cultures and languages to her ESL classrooms. Originally from Montenegro, Sajma has also lived in Turkey, China, and Serbia, plus travels through Germany, Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia! 🌍✈️

A dedicated language learner herself, Sajma speaks a bit of Chinese and is currently tackling Spanish! 🇨🇳🇪🇸

Equipped with a Bachelor's degree, TESOL certification, and a BPSS certificate, Sajma's passion is helping students build the confidence to actually communicate in English, through language acquisition and classrooms that feel supportive and engaging. 🗣️📚

When she isn't teaching, you can find her dancing or swimming! 💃🏊

Fun fact: Montenegro holds a "lying down" competition, whoever stays lying down the longest wins! 🏆

Learning outside the classroom! 🦕✨ Our ESL students traded their desks for dinosaurs this week on a field trip to the American Museum of Natural History! From the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life to the halls of ancient civilizations, students got to practice their English while exploring exhibits, asking questions, and discovering something new around every corner.

A huge thank you to Teacher Maxim for organizing such a fun and educational day — this is what learning English really looks like: hands-on, immersive, and unforgettable. 🌍📚
