Perry School WELCOME TO PERRY! A PROGRESSIVE NURSERY SCHOOL LOCATED IN THE HISTORICAL WEST VILLAGE AT 136 WEST 10TH STREET

Perry School is our NYC preschool that offers an interdisciplinary approach to teaching young children. We believe in small group settings with a high teacher child ratio. We customize our curriculum for every child who enters our school and develop a process oriented environment that touches on all areas of early childhood development. Our teacher are experienced, nurturing and committed to the highest standard for the children and families. We also hold our fantastic New York City summer camps that include NYC KidsCamps, Broadway Kids NYC and Fairytale Camp for children up to 10 years old. On the weekends, we hold events that offer the space for families to celebrate birthday parties and special occasions for everyone. Baby Moves is a happy place in the West Village where exciting and unique NYC baby classes and classes for toddlers have been available for families since 2001. Our NYC baby music classes like Musical Toolbox, Cortex 101, Mommy and Baby, and All Four On the Floor, just to name a few have gained a reputation for excellence over the past 20 years. OUr Early childhood development specialists design thoughtful fun programs with music, dance, art, science, gym, cooking and foreign languages in a place where children can express themselves and play with friends. We customize our baby & toddler classes for every child who attends our programs making every experience interesting and different. Baby Moves is also a space in the West Village where adults can see friendly faces and meet New York City families to build a better community. Sometimes participation begins quietly.

A child sits at the edge, watching. She takes in the movement of the parachute, the voices of the group and the rhythm of what is unfolding around her.

There is no hurry.

The environment offers an invitation: paper, brushes, color and space to explore. Curiosity brings her closer. Soon, she is painting—following her own ideas with concentration and purpose.

And then another child joins her.

Two children. Two paintings. Shared materials. A conversation beginning through glances, gestures and color.

Sometimes participation begins by simply watching. 💛

At KIN in the Park, children are invited to enter each experience at their own pace.

First, they observe from a place where they feel comfortable. Then curiosity draws them closer. Before long, they are painting independently, making choices, concentrating—and beginning to create alongside a new friend.

This is how confidence grows: not through pressure, but through thoughtfully prepared, hands-on experiences that give children the freedom to explore, connect and belong.

Through art, music, movement, storytelling and cooperative play, KIN in the Park helps children build independence, relationships and a joyful connection to learning.

What if a child could understand the meaning of a word before ever being asked to sound it out? ❤️📖

Welcome to KIN THINK, our signature early-reading experience rooted in The Stewart Method™.

We begin with the complete printed word—presented clearly in large red letters—before introducing the picture. Children see the word, hear it spoken and then discover its meaning through a beloved story, conversation, movement and play.

For Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, children explore words such as:

brown • bear • see • red • yellow

Through brief, joyful repetition, children begin recognizing familiar words automatically. Then we help them look more closely—discovering the letters, beginning sounds and patterns inside each word. This creates a bridge from whole-word recognition to true decoding and independent reading.

But reading is never just about saying a word. It is about understanding, remembering, connecting and applying meaning across different experiences.

Our central question is always:

Can the child apply this concept across contexts?

This is where early literacy becomes meaningful. This is where vocabulary, memory, comprehension, confidence and a genuine love of books begin growing together.

Kin in the Park, Volume 1 ✨

We brought KIN Family Festival to Washington Square Park for the very first time—and it felt like magic.

At golden hour, with the sun slipping behind the trees, 60–70 families gathered in the heart of the city for an evening of movement, music, connection, and pure childhood joy. Kids ran, danced, explored, and created while parents simply watched it all unfold—no screens, no rush, just presence.

This is what happens when community meets intention in an open space 🌿

Today was this little girl’s final day with us before moving away—and an incredibly emotional goodbye for the devoted nanny who has loved and cared for her for more than three years.

Together, they have been part of our Perry School and KIN Camp family for the past several years. We watched through tears as her nanny reached out to her one more time, overwhelmed by everything this goodbye meant.

We sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” while waving our rainbow scarves, shared cupcakes, and held onto one last beautiful moment together.

It was joyful. It was heartbreaking. It was the very definition of bittersweet.

Because when you help raise a child, they don’t just move away from your home—they take a piece of your heart with them.

This is what KIN means: the people who become family, the childhood memories we create together, and the love that remains—even after goodbye. 🌈

Please help us send this beautiful little girl off with all the love in the world. 💛

Today at KIN Nest at Perry School, I had the joy of spending the morning with our KIN indoor program at Perry School—our beautiful group of 12 babies 💛

We gathered for circle time, exploring connection, language, and early literacy through our Book of the Week: Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by Eric Carle 🐻‍❄️📚

With interactive storytelling, gentle movement, and shared wonder, the babies were fully engaged—listening, responding, and connecting with both the story and each other in such meaningful ways. These earliest moments of socialization and community building are where language truly begins to bloom.

From sensory exploration to movement-based play, every part of our morning is intentionally designed to nurture curiosity, connection, and joy in learning.

I’m so grateful for this growing KIN Village and the families who make it so special 🌿
