Well, 2021 was not fun.

I’ve taken a big step back on IG because of lots of family things going on. I’m ready for this year to be done. Like put a fork in me DONE.

2022 is hopefully a new beginning. I know it’s going to start with big challenges because, you now, we’re teaching in a friggin pandemic, but hopefully it’s another year to grow and survive.

So my resolution is be more present and active. I took a long hiatus from this but I’m ready to come back and use this community to inspire and seek support.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the Great War ended. At that time, in 1918, it had been the costliest and deadliest war mankind had ever experienced. 🌹

Our country refers to today as Veterans' Day, but many others celebrate it as Remembrance Day. I think that is more fitting. We need to remember the sacrifice given by countless men and women. We need to remember the soldiers who fought for freedom and continue to fight. And most importantly, we need to remember so that we do not forget. 🎖️

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
🌹

My library represents my Monday status: there appears to have been a struggle 😂

Anyone else have a case of the Monday’s today?!

Twenty years later and the memories of that day were so vivid.

I talked to my boys this morning about that day. I was a college sophomore, sitting in my art history class when the towers fell. I walked out to people crying, the Adelphi University cafeteria filled with people trying to watch the news, and had an eerie ride home. I went to school about 30 minutes from NYC. My commute home had me drive over a bridge over Southern State Parkway, bumper to bumper going into the city. Fire trucks, ambulances, first responders blasting their sirens to get through. The east bound traffic was suspiciously empty. A somber ride to home. I worked at a local grocery store at night and it was one of the busiest Tuesdays I can recall. We ran out of bread, milk and bottled water. Coworkers cried as they still couldn’t not reach loved ones because their primitive cell phone service was out because the towers came down.

I still get a pit in my stomach thinking of that day. Please never forget. 🇺🇸
