May is the season of fresh starts, and what better way to embrace that energy than with a celebration? On May 2nd, HMALS welcomed its students, families, and staff for its annual Student Birthday Party, a beloved tradition that honors every student's birthday together before summer break begins. Board members kept the energy high with a variety of activities prepared for the students, including stone painting, cupcake decorating, hula hoops, pizza, desserts and gifts. Students mingled with parents and teachers, filling the auditorium with laughter and good vibes. Just when it felt like the day had already reached its peak, everyone made their way outside to find an ice cream truck in the churchyard, ready with sweet and frozen treats. Everyone had a blast.
What really sets this celebration apart is the strong sense of community it fosters, a moment when everyone in HMALS comes together and feels right at home, sharing in the joy and happiness.

In celebration of Easter, HMALS students take part in a variety of events arranged by the ACHM throughout Holy Week. Ten Maidens ceremony, a symbolic reenactment of the women who visited Jesus’ tomb on Easter morning, was one of them. Alongside HMADS and Sunday School students, they wore traditional Armenian church garments and respectfully portrayed the maidens from the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Maidens. By engaging in these Holy Week ceremonies and traditions, HMALS students not only celebrate their cultural heritage but also gain a deeper appreciation for the faith that has supported their community for generations.

Welcome to Bake Time with Students 🍪
Students at the Armenian language school made cookies shaped like Armenian letters. As children rolled out dough and cut it into the curved forms of the Armenian alphabet, they practiced recognizing and assembling the letters that make up their own names. While students were busy shaping their names, board members and teachers prepared msalosh (lahmajoun) for everyone to enjoy. It was a fun and meaningful way to connect language learning with Armenian culture!
