Grade 11 boy Peter Shea ’28 is organizing a sunscreen drive this September to support pediatric patients at Hospital for Special Surgery living with lupus and other rheumatic conditions. For these patients, sun exposure can trigger rashes and flares, making sunscreen an important part of their care.

We’re proud of Peter for using his voice and initiative to support others, and we hope the Browning community will join him in this effort throughout September. Families can donate unopened, unused sunscreen that will not expire before summer 2027 in the lobbies of both 62 and 64.

What does it mean to grow up at Browning? At our Opening Assembly, students and school leaders reflected on the ideas and relationships that shape life at Browning.

Student Council Co-Presidents Jesse S. ’27 and Ryan K. ’27 spoke about the power of belonging to a K–12 community and the relationships that make Browning special. Our division heads, Mr. Ogden, Ms. Ma, and Mr. Willson, reflected on the four values at the heart of the Browning experience:

🔹 Honesty: Building trust with one another.
🔹 Curiosity: Asking questions and seeking to understand.
🔹 Dignity: Making space for and honoring others.
🔹 Purpose: Finding meaning in what we do and how we affect others.

As Dr. Botti reminded the boys, “Purpose matters.” These values shape how our boys learn, grow, and live together throughout their years at Browning.

As AI continues to reshape the way young people interact with the digital world, Browning is bringing the conversation to our community.

This fall, AI safety expert Evan Harris of Pathos Consulting will speak with the Browning community about the rapidly evolving challenges surrounding AI, including deepfakes and online safety. He’ll first connect with families before speaking with boys in October through age-appropriate conversations.

Evan previously worked with Browning’s faculty and administrators on the growing threat of deepfakes and the importance of preparing both students and adults to navigate these challenges. His upcoming visits are part of Browning’s ongoing commitment to helping our boys approach new technologies with curiosity, judgment, and responsibility.
