Elon Musk says coming up with new ideas is not his biggest challenge. The real problem is having more ideas than he can possibly execute.

With Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, Neuralink and his other projects spanning robotics, AI, energy and transportation, Musk has repeatedly described ex*****on and available resources as the limiting factors.

The idea highlights a very different problem from a lack of innovation: when there are more ambitious projects than a person or company can realistically build, deciding what to pursue becomes the challenge.

A 28-year-old laboratory worker at Russia’s Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute has died after developing severe pneumonia of unknown origin.

The death in Shelekhov, Siberia, triggered precautionary measures, with nearly 200 people who may have had contact with her placed under medical observation. Parts of the hospital where she was treated were also quarantined.

Reports have circulated about a possible laboratory accident involving plague bacteria, but Russian health authorities have not confirmed that plague caused her illness. Officials say testing has so far found no microorganisms linked to her professional work, and contacts under observation have shown no signs of infection.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities monitor those who may have been exposed.

A Chinese fitness influencer known as Abeeeer has apologized after being caught riding on the back of a bicycle during the 2026 Berlin Marathon.

She initially celebrated a personal-best time of 4:53:46, but photos later showed her riding a bike near the 38 km mark. Her fastest 5 km split also came between 35 and 40 km, the same section where she was photographed getting a ride.

Abeeeer later admitted that riding the bike violated the race rules and said she had felt unwell during the race, but acknowledged that this was not an excuse. She also admitted that she had failed to disclose the bike ride when sharing her result.

Her sponsor, Brooks China, subsequently terminated its partnership with her and apologized for failing to thoroughly verify her race data.

Elon Musk says his brain feels like a computer browser with 100 tabs open when he tries to fall asleep.

He explained that there is so much going on in his mind at the end of the day that shutting it down can be difficult. His solution is surprisingly simple: he puts on an audiobook with a 15-minute timer.

Musk compared it to having his phone read him a bedtime story, and said he also finds podcasts useful at bedtime.

The comment came during a Tesla all-hands meeting in March 2025, where he was discussing reading, history and biographies.

Utah is now allowing an AI system to autonomously renew certain prescription medications, making it the first US state to permit this kind of AI-driven prescription renewal.

The pilot, run with health-tech company Doctronic, covers a limited list of previously prescribed, non-controlled medications. Patients answer clinical questions through the AI system, and eligible renewals can be sent directly to a pharmacy without a doctor reviewing every individual case.

The system cannot issue new prescriptions, change treatment plans or renew controlled substances. Utah initially required physician review of the first 250 cases in each medication group before allowing the AI to operate more independently.

The move has drawn criticism from Utah's Medical Licensing Board and medical groups, who have raised concerns about patient safety and accountability.

Elon Musk says Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot could eventually perform surgery with precision beyond the best human surgeons.

In a recent Moonshots podcast conversation, Musk predicted Optimus could become better than the best human surgeons in about three years, with a margin of superiority within four years. He argued that a shared memory across large numbers of robots could give every Optimus access to an enormous amount of surgical experience.

Musk has also previously described Optimus as having potentially “superhuman” precision for sophisticated medical procedures.

For now, this remains a prediction. Optimus has not demonstrated autonomous surgery on humans, and experts point out that real-world surgery involves unpredictable anatomy, safety validation and regulatory hurdles.

Elon Musk says people may have at most 10 years left to make money primarily by selling their work.

His prediction is that AI and robotics will eventually handle most tasks, making the traditional model of paying people for their time increasingly difficult to justify.

Musk has made increasingly aggressive predictions about AI’s impact on employment and the economy, including forecasts that digital intelligence could eventually exceed the combined intelligence of humanity.

His 10-year timeline is a prediction, not a certainty, but the underlying question is already becoming harder to ignore: what happens to the value of human labor when machines can perform more and more of the work?

Elon Musk says the next major bottleneck for America’s AI race may not be chips, but electricity.

Musk has warned that AI chip production is growing far faster than new electricity capacity. He said the US could soon be producing more AI chips than it has enough power to actually turn on, while pointing to China’s much faster growth in electricity generation.

The issue is already becoming visible as massive AI data centers push US electricity demand to record levels. For AI, having the chips is only half the equation. You also need enough power, cooling, and grid infrastructure to keep them running.

Seven years ago, Starlink was only beginning. The first batch launched in May 2019 carried just 60 satellites.

Now the constellation has crossed 11,000 satellites in orbit.

That means the network has grown from a small experimental fleet into the largest satellite constellation ever deployed, with launches continuing almost every week and older spacecraft being replaced as they reach the end of their lives. Independent tracking counted roughly 11,150 Starlink satellites in orbit in early October 2026, although the number changes constantly as new satellites launch and others are deorbited. The scale is difficult to visualize.

In August 2026, Starlink crossed the 11,000 mark for the first time. By October, independent tracking showed more than 11,100 satellites still in orbit. And this is only the beginning of the network's next phase. SpaceX has now started deploying its much larger Starlink V3 satellites, with the first 26 reaching orbit aboard Starship in September.

From 60 satellites in 2019 to more than 11,000 today. Humanity has never put anything quite like this around Earth before.

Before Elon Musk became a household name, before Tesla and SpaceX, his mother, Maye Musk, was willing to put her own savings behind his first startup.

In the 1990s, Elon and his brother Kimbal were building Zip2, a company that helped newspapers bring business directories and maps onto the internet.
It was an unusual idea at the time, and the early days were far from glamorous. The brothers were struggling financially, sleeping at the office and trying to convince investors that their vision had a future.

Maye believed the idea could make people's lives easier. She later recalled investing her only savings in the company. Zip2 was eventually acquired by Compaq for approximately $307 million in 1999.
