Team 3 - Yeshiva University High School for Girls Our Team is taking part in the New York City DNA Barcoding Competition

In our experiment, we plan to extract the DNA of the Asian pear, and compare it to the DNA of apples and European pears. We will be doing this to see if there are any genetic similarities at the molecular level. We will also correct any mistakes in the Asian pear's classification, as there have been several examples of mistakes that have been found in other species' classifications.We will be conducting our experiment by using the PCR process to discover the differences in the pears', apples' and Asian pears' DNA sequences. We hope it will be a great addition to taxonomy and help open many great doors in the world of science.
