The Board of Elections is pleased to announce that Freshmen Caucus elections are starting soon and interest meetings are happening very soon!

The Freshman Caucus advocates for issues pertaining to the freshman class, collaborating with the school administration and the Student Union. The Caucus is led by two students: either two co-presidents, or a president and vice president, depending on which system they choose.

Whether you already have a policy platform drafted up, or if you are just curious about how student government works at Stuyvesant, we highly encourage all freshmen to attend a Freshmen Caucus Interest meeting. Please note that you MUST attend one of the two interest meetings in order to be eligible for candidacy. The interest meetings will be held on Thursday, October 20th and Friday, October 21st, after 10th period in room 229. If you plan on attending, please fill out this sign-up form: https://forms.gle/8XgwozkmhGxBNPou5 so we can accurately estimate interest levels for this year’s election.

During the interest meetings, we will be going over the campaigning process, the responsibilities of a Freshman Caucus President, and how the Stuyvesant Student Union works as a whole. We will also be going over rules and other qualifications necessary to run.

We, the Board of Elections, are responsible for the organization and maintenance of the Freshman Caucus election. If you choose to run, you will be in close communication with us throughout the campaigning season.

We would also like to clarify that no campaigning is permitted until permission is explicitly given by the BOE. You may not create social media accounts nor inform your peers that you intend to run for office. Premature campaigning may disqualify a prospective candidate from running. Again, please do not campaign until we permit you to. We will be very transparent in the interest meeting about campaigning windows, so any violation of this rule will be penalized.

Good evening,

After much anticipation, we are officially announcing the 2022 Caucus Election interest meetings!

This meeting is for those who are interested in running for either Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Caucus for the year 2022-2023. In this meeting, we'll be going over the schedule of this year's campaign season, the logistics behind the campaign, as well as requirements, rules, and regulations involved in the campaign process. As a reminder, make sure to read over the Official Rules if you haven't already done so!

This meeting will be brief, and attendance by at least one candidate from a prospective ticket is mandatory for a ticket to run in this election. Please fill out the attached interest form.

The interest meeting will take place in room 305 on Wednesday, May 11th and room 303 on Thursday, May 12th after 10th period.

Good evening,

This post contains information about your 2022-2023 Student Union President and Vice President, as well as information regarding caucus elections and our projected dates for them. Therefore, we advise that you read through this post!

As you may know, the process of our Student Union election began a few weeks ago before break. At the BOE, we love seeing the campaigns, debates, and voting process that goes into any election. However, this year, the Student Union election was uncontested. Though they were uncontested, they exceeded their petitioning requirements and have also shown us respect and kindness during our time working with them.

With that said, here are your Student Union representatives for this upcoming school year!

President: Ryan Lee
Vice President: Amanda Cisse

Since the Student Union has not been able to campaign and show their policies directly to the student body, we are hoping to hold a town hall soon where students can directly communicate with and ask questions to the new Student Union representatives. Though the location and time are not yet decided, we will let you know through email or announcements of the whereabouts and scheduling of the town hall if we do decide to hold one.

Caucus Elections

As you all may know, caucus elections are coming up soon. Due to the fact that AP tests are coming up soon with a large percentage of the student body preparing for them, we have decided to start our caucus elections in early to mid-May. We will send another email as the caucus elections come closer with more information regarding interest meetings, petitioning, campaigning, and more, so look out for an email in the near future.

We are looking forward to seeing what our new Student Union representatives have planned for this upcoming school year! And we are also excited to start the caucus elections soon. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us.

Dear Freshmen,

After a year of online learning, the BOE was so excited to return to in person elections, and this election was an incredible way to return to student government! With 14 tickets running for office, we hope that all of you were able to vote for tickets that represented your wants and needs, and we thank each and every one of you for voting.

As with the previous elections, the average voter turnout for this year has been higher than in the past, with a total of 401 votes (48% of the freshman class). Although we'd ideally love to have 100% voter turnout, we appreciate every single vote. Let's try and aim for higher numbers in the next election!

Without further ado, congratulations to your new Freshman Caucus Co-Presidents, Andy Xian and Fin Ying!

We would also like to congratulate every ticket that decided to run for this election. Each of them poured so much time and effort into bettering our school and our Student Government, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve, inside or outside of the SU.

We'd love to offer a massive thank you to all of our incredible BOE members who helped this election run smoothly. We'd also like to thank Mr. Polazzo for always being cooperative and supportive of student government, and we'd finally like to thank every single ticket that ran.

Good morning freshmen!! Today is voting day!!!

Starting at 8 am, you’ll be able to vote on vote.stuysu.org to defide who your freshman caucus presidents will be! On the site, you can check out information on every ticket, and you can vote by ranking the tickets in order of how much you support them.

Voting closes at 5 pm! Remember, every vote counts- we’ve had past elections where two votes were the deciding factor.

Good evening freshmen!

Last week, the Board of Elections launched campaign season for our annual Freshman Caucus elections.

Typically, we would hold one debate with all of the tickets so the freshman class can get to know the candidates better. However, because a significant number of campaigns chose to run this year, we have decided to hold two separate debates. Each debate will feature seven tickets.

The first debate will be held on Thursday, November 18th, and the second will be on Friday, November 19th. Both will begin at 3:45 PM, and will be held in the library.

All freshmen are invited to attend! However, we may have to cap the number of attendees depending on how many students show up. We will also be streaming the debates on our page, Stuyvesant Board of Elections, and we will be posting the recordings to our youtube channel afterwards.

This year, our voting website (https://vote.stuysu.org) is fully functional! In addition to it's typical voting function (which you'll be able to do next Wednesday), you can check out which tickets are running. Many tickets have updated their profiles, so we highly suggest that you take a look to have an idea of which tickets you're interested in!

Dear Freshmen,

Though we originally were afraid of what would come of Student Government elections heading into the pandemic, each and every election that has happened virtually has continuously shocked us at the BOE. This election definitely proved that, and serves as a great way to end our (hopefully!) last virtual election as we head back into an in person school year.

As with the previous elections, the average voter turnout for this year has been higher than in the past. We sincerely thank everyone who voted for taking the time to follow the Sophomore Caucus elections and for voting your new Sophomore caucus presidents into office.
