Quick Tips on Setting Boundaries With Your Child
1) Talk to your child early on (before the age of two) about
appropriate behavior and what's not expected. Explain why it's right or wrong.
2) Set clear expectations of specific behaviors, & follow up with appropriate consequences. This way your child will start associating actions with consequences.
3) Ask your child to do what you want, instead of "don't", "stop"...
4) Set up rules and expectations as a family.
5) Catch your child being good & follow up with specific praise-- such as "I
liked the way you made your bed this morning, --even before I asked you".
Praise! Praise! Praise is the cardinal rule once you have set clear
boundaries of what's expected.
