The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School Learning based on our 5-Commitments: Courage,Compassion,Respect,Perseverance,& Stewardship.

The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School (the Kurt Hahn School) is a 9-12 school working in partnership with New York City Outward Bound and Expeditionary Learning Schools to arm students with the knowledge, skills and character necessary to serve as informed, thoughtful and courageous civic leaders in their own communities and beyond. Students at the Kurt Hahn School will enroll in a challenging standards based curriculum that readies them for successful graduation from 4 year colleges. The Kurt Hahn School emphasizes the interdisciplinary, in-depth study of compelling topics which develop students’ abilities to creatively solve problems and think critically. It also provides a myriad of out of school experiences through which students acquire the tools necessary to become life long learners.

🏆 WANT TO PLAY? MAKE SURE YOU’RE ELIGIBLE.
Sports are a huge part of our school community, and we want to see more of you getting involved! Before you hit the court, field, track, or gym, make sure you’re meeting the PSAL requirements to compete.

📚 Keep your grades up
You need to meet the academic requirements, including passing 4 credit-bearing classes + PE (if you’re taking it) and meeting the required credit total.

🏫 Show up & go to class
You need at least 80% attendance each marking period. On game, practice, or tryout days, you also need to be in school and attend your assigned classes.

📝 Get your forms in
Medical forms and parent/guardian permission slips are available in the Main Office. Get them completed and submitted so you can get cleared to play.

🏕️ 9TH GRADE… Y’ALL READY FOR THIS? 👀

Last year, our 9th graders packed their bags and headed to Upstate, NY for 3 days + 2 nights of adventure with Outward Bound! 🌲🎒

From camping and exploring to teamwork, challenges, and making memories together, this trip is more than just a field trip.

This experience is a natural extension of what we do at KHELS: giving students opportunities to build resilience, perseverance, initiative, connection, and courage while learning alongside one another in new and meaningful ways.

And trust us… the memories were REAL. 😂🏕️
