Some our WH Studio summer class this past June at The Chain Theatre. As I am currently in Sarasota embarking on my 2nd year of Graduate School at FSU / Asolo Conservatory, only online classes will be available on Mondays this academic year. Back on WH Way for a bit, where Wynn taught on 56th Street in a Carriage House from 1955-1983 —> then across the street in Carnegie Hall Studio 808 from 1983-2008.

I’ll be teaching a WHS class in June at , beginning next Thursday, June 6th - Monday, June 24th; limited space(s) still available!

Proud to keep the business going in our 72nd year. Wynn opened his studio in January of 1952 at The Neighborhood Playhouse during a time when he was Sanford Meisner’s only assistant (1950-1955), before moving to 56th Street in 1955.

For those away from the city online classes are available on Wednesday evenings.

Grateful for another season of classes, though truncated this fall by my taking a pause to pursue my MFA at FSU / Asolo Conservatory. Looking forward to resuming next May - August in NYC as well as remotely in 2024.

Thank you to all the students, past and present, for your support and encouragement which keep the WHS continuing onward into our 72nd Season next year.

Our 71st season was a memorable one. Thanks to all our dedicated students, past and present, whose devotion throughout the year to the craft of organic acting continues to inspire.

As I will be temporarily away pursuing Graduate work, in-person classes will be on a brief hiatus. However, zoom classes will resume just after Labor Day, for those interested; grateful to our online students who have grown into a rich national, often global, community. Wynn would have been amazed.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and salubrious remainder of summer.

As tonight is our last in-person class for some time I wanted to take a moment to thank Kirk Gostkowski and Christina Elise Perry of the for providing such a welcoming home for The Wynn Handman Studio throughout the last two years.

Kirk and Christina are two of the hardest working people in the business and along with their l brilliant creative staff are constantly providing a home for new writers and artists, as well as making space available for theatrical productions and classroom / rehearsal rentals. With a 99 Seat and 65 Seat theatre, as well as a studio theatre, and multiple classroom and rehearsal spaces, the creative process is always in action at The Chain. If you aren’t familiar with their work, check them out!

When Wynn died during COVID I had to put the contents of our beloved studio into storage while I figured out my next steps. While it remains my dream to recreate Wynn’s unique studio environment in our own commercial space in the future, I remain deeply grateful for kindness and steadfast support of The Chain.

JUNE CLASS SCHEDULE

After June, In-Person Classes will be on hiatus until May 2024 as I will be taking a sabbatical for professional development. Zoom classes will continue, resuming weekly in September.

Thanks to all of the students and alumni who joined class and poured themselves into the work over the last two years; your trust & support of me in continuing on the WH Studio has meant the world. Thanks also to the for your support and for providing us a warm & welcoming home since 2021.

Wynn’s professional classes began 71 years ago this month. Here is Wynn & Sanford Meisner, with students, at The Neighborhood Playhouse in the early 50’s. From 1952-1955, classes took place at the Playhouse at a time when Wynn was Meisner’s only assistant.

Proud to continue WH Studio classes into the future in our 71st Season, which resume tonight at 7pm.
