Earlier this year our founder, Ann Edwards sat down with Yvette Siegel-Herzog to discuss her distinguished accomplishments in education.
“In 1962, when millions of children with disabilities were being educationally neglected and left to languish, Ms. Siegel-Herzog and Dr. Michael saw the full sum of a student’s potential and guided them to flourish. This elegant, erudite woman, whose career has spanned the history of special education in America, had the vision to treat children as whole, complex beings when others saw only a lack. The expatriate who described her childhood ‘experience of statelessness’ gave these children—and so many more after them—a home.”
