We’re pleased to welcome Delia Riggi to the Salvadori Board of Directors. 😊

Delia is an Associate Vice President and Project Manager at HNTB’s New York City office. With over 14 years of construction and program management experience in the transportation industry, she currently supports the LaGuardia Airport Redevelopment Program, leading the completion of terminal programs and supporting the Q70 Improvements Program. Her experience also includes several major The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey projects, including the AirTrain Newark Replacement Program and Port Authority Bus Terminal Replacement Program. 🌟

In addition to her industry expertise, Delia was named one of ENR New York’s Top 20 Under 40 in 2024. She is also the former Co-Chair of the New York Building Congress Young Professionals Committee and is actively involved in several construction and transportation industry organizations. 🌟

At the Salvadori Center, Board members play a vital role in advancing STEAM education for K–12 students across New York City, providing strategic leadership and helping strengthen the partnerships and resources that expand opportunities for students.

Salvadori students from International Community High School visited Breakthrough Properties as part of our field trip series! 😃

Students learned about Breakthrough Properties’ work and explored projects across the science and hospitality sectors. Located at Rockefeller Plaza, the visit also included a tour of the office and an opportunity to learn more about the surrounding Rockefeller Center area. 🌟

To put their learning into practice, students took on a project-planning challenge that tasked them with developing a project within a $10 million budget—giving them firsthand insight into the decisions, priorities, and tradeoffs that shape architecture and engineering projects. 🌟

Thank you to the Breakthrough Properties team for hosting our students and expanding their understanding of the many career pathways and possibilities within STEAM! ☺️

During our field trip series, students from The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School visited Walter P Moore to explore STEAM careers and gain firsthand insight into the world of engineering and construction. ☺️

Students learned about the planning and design considerations that go into engineering projects before construction begins. Working collaboratively, they were challenged to design and build the tallest skyscraper possible using flashcards and popsicle sticks. 🌟

We’re pleased to welcome Huston Dawson to the Salvadori Board of Directors. 😊

Huston is a senior principal at Thornton Tomasetti and the leader of the Protective Design practice in the firm’s New York office. He has overseen protective design projects for the U.S. Department of State, Department of Defense, General Services Administration and private sector clients. His portfolio includes numerous U.S. embassies, federal buildings and commercial developments. 🌟

In addition to his industry leadership, Huston has served as an adjunct professor in Columbia University’s Department of Civil Engineering since 2014. He recently concluded more than a decade of service on the board of the Quaker School at Horsham, which supports students with ADHD, learning disabilities, autism, language disorders, anxiety and other complex learning needs through individualized educational pathways. During his tenure, Huston served as treasurer, was a member of the executive committee and helped lead an expansion that added more than 25,000 square feet of classroom space.

Salvadori Board members play a vital role in advancing STEAM education for K-12 students across New York City and Northeastern Pennsylvania. They provide strategic leadership and leverage their professional networks to strengthen partnerships and fundraising efforts that expand opportunities for students.

During a recent field trip, Salvadori students from the Pan American International High School in the Bronx visited PAE's New York office to explore careers in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering. After hearing from professionals across the industry, students applied their learning through MEP design challenges. 🙂

We’re pleased to announce and welcome Charlotte Sturgis to the Salvadori Board of Directors 😊

Charlotte Sturgis is the Senior Vice President of Business Operations at ADCO Electrical Corp., where she provides strategic oversight across the company’s operations and risk management. With over 20 years of experience guiding complex building and developmental projects, her work also includes past leadership as senior project manager at Bovis Lend Lease, Vertical Development Manager for the Summit Bechtel Reserve, and Head of Construction at Rose Associates. 🌟

“What drew me to Salvadori is the way it makes the built environment a classroom. The buildings and sites I have helped bring to life are, at their core, STEAM in action where math, science, engineering, and design meet. Salvadori brings that insight to K–12 students in under-resourced schools, showing them that the structures around them are theirs to understand and create. Serving on the board lets me support the next generation of builders and problem-solvers.”

Charlotte earned her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, and is currently a mentor with the Urban Land Institute and NY Women Executives in Real Estate. 🌟

Our 2026 Student Design Charrette brought together students and STEAM professionals for a day of creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning. 😊

For this year's Design Charrette, students put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test through a bridge-building challenge.

Students were challenged to design and build a bridge strong enough to support a 1-pound truck plus an additional 4 pounds of weight.

It's always inspiring to watch students transform their ideas from sketches into final, three-dimensional creations.

We're grateful to our volunteers and supporters for providing mentorship, encouragement, and expertise throughout the day. Your support helped make this experience possible! 😊
