Today on September 11th, the SGA joined in on a wreath-laying ceremony near the plaque where eight BMCC community members passed away due to the incident on September 11, 2001. The Student Government Association had the honor to give tribute to - Annette Dataram, Jorge Luis Morron Garcia, Keithroy Marcellus Maynard, Shevonne Olicia Mentis, Curtis Terrence Noel, Angela Rosario, Khamladai Khami Singh and Hector Tirado, Jr.
President E. Munro reminded us about the impact that September 11, 2001, had on the BMCC community and the world. “We lost eight of our family members on that day, and many more, since that day,” said Dr. Munroe. “We honor those who perished, those who responded to the tragedy and those who continue to work here at BMCC in support of our students. Together we rise, we remember and we continue to build a future filled with hope and dedication.”
BMCC is the only college in United States history to have lost a campus building (Fiterman Hall) to a terrorist attack. The current SGA in honor of the past one wishes to remind the student body about how we are here for their needs.
We had the honor of having a fellow BMCC student singing at the wreath-laying ceremony to continue cherishing the memory of fallen BMCC students who were just like us.
