PSA for subs/submissives. It is often said that in the power dynamic between Dominant and submissive- that the sub ultimately holds all the power- as it is them who dictates the scene based on their desires and limits. This is true for a healthy, consensual D/s relationship and should be discussed and negotiated BEFORE play ensues.


While I think both partners have power, as both have choice, it’s a co-creation, a collaboration- I’ve been thinking about the power of the submissive. To me, a person simply submitting to another is not the entirety of their power. It’s in the surrender that is the power. Surrender to themselves, their desires, to the moment, to the universe - being able to let go and be fully in the moment is a courageous and powerful act. This requires a deep trust in themselves, their partners and the universe. It’s liberating. It can alter consciousness. It is a gift.


So this is just a reminder to remember that a person’s willingness to submit or surrender is a gift that should be cherished and held scared. If you are playing with someone (whether you are the Dom or sub) be sure you can feel that respect and better yet- reverence from your partner. OR DON’T PLAY WITH THEM. Is it ok to engage in my s*xual fe**shes? My advice is to ask yourself these 3 questions to see if it’s appropriate to engage in a fe**sh in a s*xual way.


Being that fe**shes are based around objectification and symbols- what tends to happen is that often times there is a tendency to want to get wrapped up in the fe**sh and not be in the present moment with your partner. In this situation, I would watch for the frequency you are engaging with the fe**sh. The reason for this is that if the fe**sh is always used as a way to reach climax, it can eventually steal away from intimacy. When a person does this repeatedly, over time the act can strengthen neural pathways and create habits to the point that person will become dependent on the act or fe**sh for pleasure.


While it’s not certain where fe**shes come from, it is common that they develop as early as childhood and even infancy. Please know that a s*xual fe**sh is not a disorder by definition, but it can reach that level if it causes intense, lasting distress.
