Today, Caitlin Hasson, our Director of Nursery & K Placement, was on the ground at REDS, A Montessori School on the UES in NYC. 👟

This is what building your placement team looks like.

When we recommend a school to your family, it’s because we’ve walked the halls, met the educators, and observed how the youngest learners are met where they are. Not because we read about it. Because we’ve been there.

Caitlin came back with notes, impressions, and the kind of nuanced read you can only get in person, the warmth of the teachers, the rhythm of the day, the texture of the classrooms.

Every visit, every conversation, every observation goes into the plan we build for the families we serve.

✨ Vision, Realized.

The hardest part of freshman year isn’t the academics. It’s everything that arrives in the inbox before classes even start.
Housing forms. Financial aid verifications. Health portals. Course confirmations. Advisor sign-offs. They all show up by email, they all have deadlines, and they all live or die on whether your student has a system to catch them.
In Week 1 of First Class, we build the Three-Bucket Email Protocol — every email lands in one of three places:
→ INBOX: reply or act today
→ DO LATER: action needed, calendared → FILE: done with it, saved for reference
Then every form becomes a task on the to-do list. Nothing slips. Nothing lives in their head.
This is the operating system that carries them through four years — and we build it before they ever step on campus.

First Class runs this July with Sarah Bergin and me through . Four weeks. Twice-weekly live classes. Cohort of 20 rising freshmen. Application-based.

A candid conversation for parents of high school students who care deeply — and wonder if they might be caring too much.

You follow up on assignments. You monitor stress levels. You lie awake wondering if you’re doing enough.
What if the very effort that comes from love is making things harder — for both of you?

Join us Tuesday, May 12 at 12 PM ET for Letting Go Without Stepping Back — a free virtual fireside reimagining what it really means to support your teen through high school.

I’ll be in conversation with two voices I deeply respect: ✦ Sarah Bergin, EEC’s Director of College Counseling ✦ Sue Groner, The Parenting Mentor

We’ll talk about staying engaged without overstepping, building independence without distance, and why trusting the process — and the team in your corner — lightens the load.
Your job isn’t to manage your teen’s life. It’s to support the person they’re becoming.

Unclear on where your child should apply to private school?

There is clarity on the other side of having a real plan — a school list built around your student, not built from what worked for someone else’s.

A beautiful morning at Packer Collegiate Institute 🌿

We visited the Packer Main Campus and the Early Learning Center today. Here are three things that stood out:

✨ The Packer Early Learning Center (3s, 4, and Kindergarten) has its own building. The Early Learning Center is around the corner from the main campus, equipped with a science room, an art studio, a full kitchen for cooking with students, a flexible space for students to move and meet, and a rooftop playground built for the youngest learners.

✨ The new Lower School Building and Packer Garden and patio are beautiful and sustainably built. There are natural wood elements throughout, a nod to the Reggio Emilia roots of the school.

✨ Student phones stay in a cart all day. Phones even stay away while some middle and high school students head out for lunch (a privilege beginning in 7th grade).

There’s no substitute for walking around a campus yourself and meeting faculty and teachers. It’s why we do what we do.

Spring touring is officially underway — and we are loving every minute of it. 🌸

Our latest stop? The Buckley School — a K–8 all-boys school on the Upper East Side that completely lives up to the buzz. The intentionality here is palpable. Boys lead, participate, and thrive in every corner of this school, and the community around it is something special.

We walked away with so much to share with our families. Stay tuned — more from our spring tours coming soon!

How Spring School Tours Help You Assess Private School Fit Before Applying 03/17/2026

Looking at Private Schools (nursery-high or boarding school) this fall?

Spring tours offer something you simply can’t get online: a real feel for whether a school is the right fit.

When you walk the halls, observe classrooms, and connect with faculty, you’re not just gathering information; you’re answering the most important question:

👉 Can I truly see my child here?

In our latest blog, School Placement Advisor, Sophie Roberts, breaks down:

✔️ Why spring is the ideal time to tour

✔️ What to look for (beyond the brochure)

✔️ How to assess true “fit,” not just features

If you’re navigating this process right now, or supporting families who are, this is a must-read.
