Change your audition mindset from:
🙁 I hate that I have to do this!
To:
🙂 I’m so lucky I get to do this!
Whether we like it or not, auditions are part of the performing game. We need to remember that we are so lucky to have any opportunity to share our voices (and the people behind the table are lucky to hear us 😉🍀). It is up to us, the performer, to decide on whether we’re going to lean into joy in the room or lean into negativity. If we choose joy, we will never regret having shown up to the audition - no matter the outcome!
Save this post to come back to before your next audition! 🥰💖

Every year I pick a new word to carry with me as I pursue my goals. This year I decided on “gratitude.”
I spent 2024 getting to know myself again. I took myself on solo theatre dates, got back to in person theatre classes, read some of the best books I’ve ever come across, and reconnected with the things that have brought me joy since childhood. Every experience I had in 2024 helped me to find myself again, and because of that, I’ve decided to spend 2025 in gratitude. I am grateful for all 2024 brought me, and I am grateful for all that is waiting for me in 2025.

It’s no secret that October is my favorite month. I love all things spooky season. 🎃 I can’t help it - it’s in my blood! (My birthday is the day before Halloween 😉) To celebrate, I’ve compiled a list of spooky albums for all my fellow musical theatre lovers to get you in the Halloween spirit.
What are your favorite spooky musical theatre albums? Drop your answers down below! 👇🏻👻🖤

As singers, we know that our bodies are our instruments. Because of this, our voices are ever changing. Some days we may need a little extra boost to achieve what we want in our vocal practice. Here are some tips I use myself to give my voice some extra love on those kinds of days:
1. Vocal affirmations: Give your voice a confidence boost by speaking words of kindness to it. It’s amazing what a simple phrase can do for your mindset. “My voice is my power” is one of my favorites. 📣
2. Breathe steam: Bring some extra hydration to your vocal folds by breathing steam. I use the Vicks Sinus Inhaler, but boiling a pot of water works just fine. Just be careful not to burn yourself. Breathing steam even feels like a mini spa session! 🧖🏼♀️
3. SOVT exercises: Gently warm up your vocal folds by doing some semi-occluded vocal tract exercises (fancy term for warm ups that require the mouth to be partially closed). Try some lip trills, singing through a straw, or singing on ‘mm,’ ‘ng,’ ‘zz,’ or ‘vv.’ 🎤
4. Journal your thoughts: Sometimes our minds get cluttered with endless thoughts, which really stands in our way when it comes to vocal freedom. Give yourself some peace of mind by writing it all down. 📝

Every year I pick a new word to carry with me as I pursue my goals. This year, I decided on “dedication.” I spent a lot of time in 2023 resting, resetting, and really trying to figure out what I wanted for myself. Now in 2024, I am committing to saying “yes” and not letting my fears hold me back. I am fully dedicated to my growth as an artist, singer, and vocal coach.
