Learning to dance isn’t just an activity you do. It is an art form that helps young people tap into every aspect of their being. It connects them to their bodies so start to understand how their breathe supports the muscles and how all the muscles work together to move and shape the body. It connects them to their emotional state so they can learn to regulate and manage their emotions in healthy ways. It engages their logical tools to problem solve when something isn’t working. It gives them opportunity to be creative by engaging in storytelling and figuring out how to communicate without words. It is a holistic art form that gives them so much more than I can possibly put into one post. Help them see these things. Give them opportunities to explore their full self through dance so they can learn who they are in the world. It is a gift to them and to everyone they meet.

I met Gavin Creel when I was in college. He was touring with my friends David Finch and Erika Weber AP LAc on Fame The Musical. Not only was he incredibly talented, but so humble, kind and encouraging. His passing is a huge shock and loss to the community, but i feel deeply for those who new and were close to him. Your pain is unbearable. That loss will always be there, but you will move through this and find peace in your memories with him. My condolences to you.
