We are building from a 5- to 7- to a 9- to 11-member volunteer board of directors.

Help educate New York City communities and children; create, perform, and disseminate original artistic and scholarly work; and build intercultural community through dance arts.

Board members engage the community to promote MDD's mission, support fundraising and development, participate in governance and strategic planning, attend programs and events, and connect MDD with new people, networks, communities, resources, and opportunities.

Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change 2026

During the 2026 season, MDD presented 3 curated and facilitated 90-minute broadcasts via Zoom with the theme Dance & Social Change, featuring 12 presenting artists and 58 artists in total from 6 states, 6 countries, 6 time zones, and 4 continents, with 118 attendees. Three of the presenting artists were New York City-based.

Since February 2019, MDD has presented 45 salons, including 2 Virtual International Arts Festivals (6 VIA performances total), featuring 624 artists from 24 states, 33 countries, 24 time zones, and 6 continents.

Our Dance for Dance for Social Change 2026 Silent Auction was a tremendous success!

Thanks to the generosity of 78 local and national business donors, our auction featured an incredible selection of gift cards, camps, fitness memberships, vacation experiences, and so much more, all donated in support of Mark DeGarmo Dance's mission and programs.

As is usual for us, 98% of the event's proceeds directly support our programs, with only 2% covering the evening's expenses.

Our annual Dance for Dance for Social Change supports our evidence-based Partnerships in Literacy through Dance and Creativity program that annually serves up to 1,000 New York City under-resourced and marginalized public elementary school students and 200 teachers.

A huge thank you to all of our business partners for helping bring dance and literacy education to NYC public schools. Your support makes our work possible!
