John Dewey High School Cross Country Dragons

John Dewey High School Cross Country Dragons John Dewey High School Cross Country Dragons Official Page. From its founding John Dewey has not fielded varsity sports teams.

That lack of inter-school sports competition grew out of its educational design, meant to de-emphasize competition, winning and losing, and to encourage achievement for its own sake. The school does however have intramural athletic programs which students can take advantage of to play sports for recreation. However, starting in the 2011-2012 school year, competitive sports with other public high schools are beginning due to a majority vote towards it. It starts with a male and female soccer team and a female basketball team, as well as cheer-leading due to the new arrival of sports. The title for the sport teams in John Dewey are named The Dewey Dragons and there is a chance of more sports being formed the year after.

Seniors participating in the group picture, please be advised that it will take place in the universal RC (room 121) this up coming Thursday after K band. Don't forget to bring your uniforms. Thank you!

Hello everyone! I hope all is well as y'all er hopefully keeping up with your winter conditioning. A few quick announcements- we (as a team) will be required to sell chocolates as a fundraiser. This will hopefully go into endorsing things such as uniform extras (sweats, jackets, etc). Please talk to coach Danticat for more details and updates. Also, seniors in the team have the opportunity to take group pictures for the yearbook. This of course will be in our team running attire and will have a number of 4-8 people needed. Please speak to Amir about more details and updates in regards to that. Lastly, we have created a new page for spring track the link will be posted above. All members interested, please join that page and look forward to future updates about the start of practice and the spring track season. If you have any friends interested in spring track, please have them join that page as well. Thank you for your time and cooperation and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TEAM!

I hate to bring on the bad news but the party that was rescheduled for tomorrow (11/16/11) will have to be, once again, cancelled. Coach Danticat has a daughter who is extremely sick and must stay home and take care of her. If anything, we will try for Thursday at best. Please spread the message to others on the team. Once again, we apoligize for inconvenience.
