The Columbia University Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a pre-professional organization dedicated to all Columbia students interested in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, and Engineering Mechanics.
-Events
Throughout the year, ASCE organizes a number of activities intended to help our students understand industry practices and career options, as well as to build sense of belonging within the CEEM Department. Stay tuned for events such as: Construction Site Visits, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam Info Session, Internship/Career Panels, and T-Shirt Sale.
-Student Steel Bridge Competition
ASCE also helps organize our school's participation in the annual ASCE/AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition. The regional Metropolitan Area takes place every April, but preparation is almost a year-long activity, as Columbia students lead every part of the bridge design, from conception to fabrication. For more information on the national competition, please visit: https://www.aisc.org/steelbridge
-Civil Engineering Department
The ASCE Student Chapter receives support and guidance from the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.
