It was so fun to combine the cello studios of Laura Usiskin, Mary Beth Bryant, and Mary Horst in Atlanta, GA for a wonderful group concert on May 2nd that included Sakura from Resonance Book 1 Cello Ensembles! ✨

Here’s a beautiful rendition of Arirang, A Korean Folk Song played by the wonderful Brooklyn Cello School, SBW Cello Studio, and Ridgefield Suzuki School cellists at their 2026 Cellobration.

Cherry blossoms are in full bloom! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Cherry blossoms, or sakura, are primarily a Japanese cultural icon symbolizing the fleeting nature of life, mortality, renewal, and the beauty of spring. Their brief, intense bloom represents the transience of life, while also celebrating new beginnings, love, and friendship.

Sakura is one of the songs in Resonance: A Multicultural Cello Method, Book 1. Besides its gorgeous melody, it introduces students to the pentatonic scale, features slurs, and it’s a lovely opportunity to work on expressive playing.

Hilary and Bianca had so much fun at the 2026 SAA/ASTA Conference, sharing the Resonance Books with so many great friends and colleagues!
We are so thankful to the Institute for Composer Diversity for hosting us so kindly, helping us to spread the word about our books and for supporting our mission to diversify the canon and enrich cello pedagogy through our materials.

Thank you Lauren Spavelko, Rob Deemer and to dear friend and mentor Nicolas Repetto for the fun shared moments around the booth and thank you to everyone who stoped by and got a copy of the book to take home.
