Each summer for the past 22 years, Looking for Shakespeare has attracted a diverse ensemble of high school students from New York and across the country. Over the course of a month, the ensemble works with a director, production team, and graduate students from NYU to mount an original production of Shakespeare. The program is unique in that the ensemble members receive individual coaching to discover how the play resonates for them, within their own personal experiences. Each year, the production is supported by designers and stage managers and is documented by a video artist. The experience culminates in four public performances. Hosted by NYU Steinhardt and the Program in Educational Theatre.
