It's about creating an environment where every person is and feels truly seen-- because the cost of our children feeling invisible, of having to hide, is just too high."

Yocheved Sidof, who founded and led Lamplighters Yeshivah for 10 years until it closed its doors this week, reflects on the impact the school has had on students, educators, and the Chabad educational landscape during that time.

From Day 1 quarantine living, the teachers at Lamplighters Yeshivah stepped up in their exceptional way to create a robust, child-sensitive, stimulating online program for our children.

What is most inspiring for me (and this sentiment is shared by other parents at LL) are the kinds of conversations I get to overhear as my kids are logged on. Teachers who are gracious, patient, resourceful, and authentically empathetic to the changes we are all navigating now.

Last night, after a bit of a rough day for my seven-year-old, her Morah Facetimed her to hear about her day, offer her some guidance, review the day's schedule, and commiserate. I had tears in my eyes. So much love and care. If that's not teaching, I don't know what is.

Like so many of us, Lamplighters' parents are hurting now and many were not able to fully uphold their tuition commitment this month. This greatly impacted our ability to pay our teachers. We're running this fundraiser now and EVERY DOLLAR GOES TO PAYING OUR TEACHERS- and all funds will be MATCHED 20%!

There are lots of great causes now in this time of need. If you have some charity and want to align yourself with the holy act of teaching children, here is a good opportunity.

From preschool to mesivta, our dedicated, creative teachers, supportive parents and committed students are recreating their rich learning environments— together.
