American society is bitterly divided over fundamental questions of identity, history, race, s*x, the purpose of the media, and our educational institutions.
American Jews are caught in the crosswinds of the tumult. How should we deal with the problem of “wokeness” in the elite institutions—schools, media, colleges, corporations? What is our positive Jewish vision and strategy to preserve and advance our core values?
In this fascinating conversation, we’ll look at these questions from the editor’s desk: asking how Bari Weiss, founder of Common Sense and John Podhoretz of Commentary think about this Jewish moment in American culture.

New York and Florida, Israel and America meet head-on at Tikvah Fund conference
While several speakers pushed back on American liberalism and “wokeism” gone mad, the focus was kept on Jewish conservatism and education, and Israel’s future as a conservative democracy.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at this year's Jewish Leadership Conference on Jews, Israel, and the Future of the West! It was incredible to gather with over 700 friends, supporters, and students of Tikvah for a day of big ideas and serious discussion on how to strengthen the Jewish people, the Jewish nation, and the American civic future. And it was a special privilege to honor our 2022 Herzl Prize Laureate, Roger Hertog, a great Jewish leader and a mentor and friend to so many of us at Tikvah.

This Sunday, Jews around the world will observe Tisha b’Av, the ancient day of mourning over the destruction of the two Temples. Why do we still mourn Jerusalem’s destruction some 2,000 years ago when today, the Jewish state is restored, Jerusalem is in our hands, and we have so much to celebrate?
Rabbi Meir Soloveichik, in the latest episode of his "Sacred Time" series, explores these questions and more. Watch the episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmBHr-QHEtE

With all the political maneuvering ahead of Israel's upcoming Knesset elections, it can be dizzying to keep up with what's happening and what it all means. What are the beliefs driving secularist Avigdor Lieberman and his supporters? What are the concerns motivating Israel’s ultra-Orthodox? And what does it signify for Israel that its haredi community is at the center of the nation’s latest political brouhaha?
Listen to Rabbi Yehoshua Pfeffer discuss all of this and more on a recent episode of the Tikvah Podcast - https://tikvahfund.org/library/podcast-yehoshua-pfeffer-on-haredi-politics-culture/. Rabbi Pfeffer will be joining us at our November conference. We hope you'll join us too.

How does a strong US-Israel relationship benefit the United States?
"Israel’s missile defense solutions can help augment or improve the systems deployed in the United States. Moreover, such cooperation sends a clear message to common foes, like Iran, that new and effective missile defense solutions are the result of an alliance that is multi-layered, as well." "The best response to anti-Jewish hate is Jewish pride, based not only on our willingness and ability to defend ourselves in an era when there is an Israel, but also in our confidence that Jews need not live in fear in a country as exceptional and free as the United States has always been."
- Jonathan Tobin

The threat of anti-Semitic violence is real. But American Jews are not in the kind of danger that should force them to hide their identities or stay away from synagogues.
