The Obama Presidential Center in Chicago will officially open to the public on June 19, 2026 (Juneteenth).
Located on a 19.3-acre campus in historic Jackson Park on the city's South Side, the $850 million project serves as a global hub for leadership and civic engagement rather than a traditional federal research archive. Rashid Ferrod Davis member of the design team and founding principal of Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH mentioned in the 2013 State of the Union and we hosted President Obama on October 25, 2013-P-TECH is now replicated in 16 states and 28 countries). We are included in this clip.
Grand Opening Schedule
June 18, 2026: An invite-only, globally livestreamed official Dedication Ceremony will take place on the campus's John Lewis Plaza.
June 19, 2026: The campus and Museum officially open to the general public.
June 20–21, 2026: A free public Grand Opening Weekend Celebration featuring live musical performances, community art creation, and family activities across the grounds.

When we first mapped out this 9–14 model in Brooklyn, our goal was to break the cycle of poverty by providing a seamless, unscreened pathway from high school straight into a no-cost STEM associate degree. Now, seeing our foundational concept replicated across 16 states and 28 countries—serving over 150,000 students globally—is a profound validation of what young people can achieve when given the right structure and support. Witnessing our 12th consecutive commencement with the New York City College of Technology further reminds me that this is more than just a school; it is an enduring engine of generational change.
We proved that public education, higher education, and industry corporate partners can unite to build a global launchpad for the 21st-century workforce.
