🥇 3:14:09 | Para Champion | Course record | Boston Marathon personal best

💛 It may have been my third time at Boston, but it felt like my first time all over again. Down to the rookie mistake of going out too fast.

💙 I road an emotional and physical roller coaster for 26.2 miles all the way from Hopkinton to Boylston that hit many highs and at least as many lows.

🦄 I teared up at least twice as I was engulfed by the crowds chanting “Go Kelly Go”. I felt the runners high and the glycogen depletion. I felt like I was flying one minute and then couldn’t imagine taking another step the next.

Thank you Boston for the wild ride, for the running blade, and for keeping me sane on all the long, hot training runs!

Be grateful. Not because you feel like you have to, but because you get to. Because you are blessed with gifts and talents and there are no guarantees. What you have today might not be yours tomorrow. Or it might look different, feel different, be different.

You have the opportunity to do the best you can do in this moment. Go do it!

Just showing up, doing my best, and hoping others will do the same. Thank you for showing up for us with a strong, supportive para pro division!

We did it! Last long run for . I can safely say that some runs are more physical and others are more mental. Today was a little of both. When the physical effort only becomes possible with a whole lot of mental grit. Thanks for pulling me along to a sweaty finish. I’d have been lost out there without you. Like actually lost. Still looking for the car.

Riverbend 5k 🏃‍♀️

It felt good to race again. I’ll remember it as a nice day on a gravel course and forget the heat and humidity! It was one of those races where you go out and hold on as long as you can.

Riverbend 5k run 🏃‍♀️

🥇 First place OA female

It felt good to race again! It was a gravel course on a warm, humid day. So, the kind of race when you just go out and hang on as long as you can.

A reminder that showing up matters. A few miles alongside greatness and a reminder of what’s possible. Honored to run with Kiera D’Amato 🏃‍♀️✨and be inspired to chase fun and joy over numbers!

It’s the journey, not the destination!

After 10 years of training in medicine and the last 3 years training for a 3 hour marathon, the most important thing I’ve learned is that recovery is non-negotiable. And it’s more than just getting good, quality sleep. True recovery encompasses physical, mental, and emotional elements. It requires prioritizing health, fueling, and nervous system downregulation while effectively managing stress capacity.

When I was planning my 2025 season, the NYC marathon was not even on my radar. I was fortunate to get a coveted spot on the Sermo BYO physicians team. I immediately knew it would be a balance of performance and recovery, as I was aiming for a PR (and sub 3:05) at the St. George marathon less than 4 weeks before and a course record at Boston Half marathon just a week later!

My plan of running an easy 3:30 quickly dissolved as I shot off the starting line and up and over the Verrazano bridge. For the remainder of the race my garmin signal was lost among the clouds, skyscrapers and overpasses and I was swept up by the surrounding runners and jazzed crowds 📣 taking full advantage of the ideal conditions.

Looking back, I can honestly say there is little I would have done differently. It was a fun, inspiring day fueled by devoted spectators (shout out to Mike and with Palm Beach Road Runners), NYC energy, high carb fueling, and a blast from the past at mile 18 when I heard “Bruno!” and was reunited with a friend I hadn’t seen in 25 years!

Thank you to for the race entry, for supporting athletes with disabilities, for the welcoming and supportive running community, / for racing shoes, and / for keeping my blade in running shape.

Time for the next adventure! The BAA Half Marathon tomorrow.
