Forte Prep is a tuition-free middle and high school open to students in grades 5 through 12 in Queens, New York. We are driven by a philosophy of achieving excellence in all facets of life and learning. We believe in the power of education to transform the lives of students from diverse, often disadvantaged, backgrounds. Through rigorous academics, creative & technological enrichment and leadership development, we prepare our students to excel at college preparatory high schools and beyond. Forte Prep graduates can enroll in top-quality public, independent and charter high schools across the city and beyond, and we’ll help them get there starting Day 1. We work with our students and parents to find the best academic environment for their future, confident that they will succeed at every stage and embody Forte Prep's values wherever they go.

The story of the new Forte Prep High School building started in 2023 when we signed the lease for the plot on the corner of Queens Boulevard and Hillyer Street in Elmhurst. Along the way have been so many passionate and dedicated partners and supporters who helped bring our vision to life and built a modern, functional, safe, beautiful new educational home for the high school students of Queens.

At the FPHS Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, we celebrated the grand opening of the new Forte Prep High School with many of the friends who had a hand and heart in its creation, and who share our belief in offering a world-class education to the students of Queens.

This is the first, joyful page in the next chapter of the new Forte Prep High School.

La historia del nuevo edificio de Forte Prep High School comenzó en 2023, cuando firmamos el contrato de arrendamiento del terreno ubicado en la esquina de Queens Boulevard y Hillyer Street, en Elmhurst. A lo largo del camino, contamos con el apoyo de numerosos colaboradores y aliados apasionados y dedicados que ayudaron a hacer realidad nuestra visión y a construir un nuevo hogar educativo —moderno, funcional, seguro y hermoso— para los estudiantes de secundaria de Queens.

En la ceremonia de inauguración de FPHS, celebramos la apertura oficial de la nueva escuela secundaria Forte Prep junto a muchos de los amigos que pusieron su esfuerzo y su corazón en su creación, y que comparten nuestra convicción de ofrecer una educación de primer nivel a los estudiantes de Queens.

Community Coming Together for Our Students!

This August, Forte hosted its first-ever Backpack Giveaway! Thanks to the incredible partnership and efforts of Mike Murphy and the NYPD Community Affairs Section (Queens North), the ****le NYPD Co****le Team, Target, and Amazon, we were able to distribute over 125 backpacks and school supplies to support our students and families as they headed back to school.

We are incredibly grateful to Mike Murphy, Jeffrey Garrison, Vinny Roman of Empire Roman Logistics and Amazon, and local Target managers Kevin Paucar and Annie Garcia for making this event possible. A special thank you to the Olive Garden in Elmhurst for donating food for our amazing volunteers!

This event was a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with one goal: supporting our students.

¡La comunidad se une por nuestros estudiantes!

¡Este mes de agosto, Forte organizó su primera entrega de mochilas! Last month during Forte Prep High School’s Summer Academy, a small group of faculty and students became the first to lead and learn in our brand new FPHS building. As our “pioneers” filled the new halls, classrooms and shared spaces designed specifically for our program, they helped lay the groundwork for a powerful start to the 2026–27 school year, when our full high school community returns and our very first senior class begins its final year.

..it can also be an opportunity for adults to check in with kids and strengthen communication at home.

Last month, the Queens Childcare Network and Forte Preparatory Academy hosted a virtual workshop to help with just that.

At the webinar, Viviana Benjumea, chief community officer at Forte Preparatory Academy, and other Forte Preparatory Academy counselors emphasized the importance of catching emotional distress early. They shared strategies for open communication, recognizing signs of distress and building healthy coping skills to help kids navigate the summer.“

The new Forte Prep High School, located at 78-02 Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst, is an intelligently designed 60,000 square foot, 6 story tall building, open to natural light and outfitted with over 25 classrooms, spacious music and art studios, innovative science labs, a regulation-size basketball court and a rooftop athletic field, a senior career and college hub and a library and media center. It is less than half a mile from the middle school and easily accessible by our school community.

The new Forte Preparatory High School building is now home to our 9th-12th graders, bringing them together under one roof after three years of attending Forte Prep High School classes in two temporary locations.

It will also be a home for events and sports for our broader community, grounding the new Forte Prep High School as a true community partner in our neighborhood.

Welcome to the NEW Forte Prep High School!

La nueva Forte Prep High School, ubicada en el 78-02 de Queens Blvd. en Elmhurst, es un edificio de seis pisos y 60,000 pies cuadrados de diseño inteligente; cuenta con abundante luz natural y está equipada con más de 25 aulas, amplios estudios de música y arte, laboratorios de ciencias innovadores, una cancha de baloncesto reglamentaria, una cancha deportiva en la azotea, un centro de orientación universitaria y profesional para los estudiantes de último año, así como una biblioteca y centro de medios. Se encuentra a menos de media milla de la escuela intermedia (middle school), lo que facilita el acceso a toda nuestra comunidad escolar.

El nuevo edificio de Forte Preparatory High School alberga ahora a nuestros estudiantes de los grados 9.º a 12.º, reuniéndolos bajo un mismo techo tras tres años de asistir a clases en dos sedes provisionales.

FPMS 2026 Graduation Ceremony!

On Wednesday, June 24, our 8th grade students crossed the stage in a beautiful ceremony held at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center. With families cheering and smiles everywhere, our student and staff speakers gave a powerful message of encouragement and pride. Our students looked sharp, felt confident, and left inspired for the next chapter of their journey. We wish them all well as they head to high school, and look forward to seeing many of them in their Forte green next year at FPHS!

El miércoles 24 de junio, nuestros alumnos de 8.º curso subieron al escenario en una preciosa ceremonia celebrada en el Centro de Artes Escénicas LaGuardia. Entre los aplausos y sonrisas de las familias, nuestros alumnos y miembros del personal que tomaron la palabra transmitieron un poderoso mensaje de ánimo y orgullo. End of Year Trips!

Every year, Forte Prep students have an opportunity to participate in the End of Year trips- focusing on learning, exploring new places, getting a taste of the college experience and having fun. At Forte Prep, we believe deeply in the power of learning beyond the classroom, and these trips offered our students new perspectives, meaningful connections, and plenty of memories.

Our 11th grade students, gearing up for a big trip with their senior class next year, had a day of fun and adventure at Six Flags! Who could say no to ferris wheels and funnel cake.
