A few days out, and we’re still glowing from our summer intensive sessions!

To our incredible adult learners: you spent your summer mastering materials, asking big questions, and stepping fully into the Montessori mindset. Now you’re about to bring all of it into your very own classrooms and we couldn’t be prouder.

We already miss the energy of our prepared environments. But this isn’t goodbye, it’s “see you soon”! Early Childhood and Elementary interns, catch us at tonight’s EC & EL practicum meetings.

Go change the world, one child at a time.

Grown adults, a public park, and a 100-year-old singing game. No regrets.

Handwashing. Cleanup. That stretch before lunch. Every transition is smoother with a song attached to it AND you don’t need to be able to sing to pull it off!

Our students walk away with dozens of songs and games, learned the way children will learn them: in a circle all together, all in.

Music is an essential part of an early childhood classroom, and no matter if you’re tone deaf or a virtuoso, you must include songs and games as part of the daily life in a classroom. In our music course students learn a plethora of songs that can be used during transitions, at circle or really, at any time of day! Wooo!

What’s your favorite classroom song?

Who am I? Who are you? Who are we? 🤲🏽

Last week, the adult learners in our Administrator program met in person and got to know each other one object at a time.

Inspired by Carmen Lizardo🇩🇴’s The Handprint Project, everyone was asked to bring one small item that fits in the palm of their hands, something that reflects who they are, what they love, and what they carry with them.

One by one, they held their objects and shared their stories. A photo, a keepsake, a small piece of home. Each one a window into a life, a passion, a journey.

Carmen Lizardo is a multidisciplinary artist from the Dominican Republic whose work explores immigration, race, womanhood, and the ways identity transforms across cultures. Her project reminded us that our hands hold our histories, and that community begins when we share them.

If you’re up in the Hudson Valley this month, you can view The Handprint Project at Poughkeepsie Public Library Adriance branch.

💬 Lessons from the Learners

"[The] Administrator course offers a program that is transformative, collaborative, and engaging. I am a better human than I was before completing this program."

At WSMS-TEP, this is what we strive for in every course we offer: programs designed to grow not just skilled professionals, but better people. Through hands-on learning, meaningful collaboration, and a supportive community, our participants leave with more than a credential. They leave transformed.

Did you miss the summer Admin sessions? Well, you're in luck because you can join the next cohort of Administrators beginning this fall! 🔗 DM or email Melissa at [email protected] for details.

Plot twist: that juicy peach? It used to be a flower! 🌸➡️🍑

Honestly, we're still a little obsessed.

This week, our Elementary adult learners became plant detectives, exploring how a delicate bloom transforms into the fruit you toss in your lunchbox.

We followed the whole journey: every life stage and every part of the plant, from roots to stems to leaves. Turns out, nature is running one of the coolest experiments around, and it's happening right in our backyards. 🔎

Here's the takeaway that stuck with us: every fruit you've ever eaten started its life as a flower.

Speaking of growth, last year Míriam was an Instructor Academy intern. This year, she's leading a TEP classroom. 🌱

These educators aren't just discovering how plants grow, they're getting ready to spark that same curiosity in the children they'll teach.

Drop your favorite fruit below!

Finding joy each day is sometimes this simple. One pink cube, held with the same care we hope our adult learners bring into every classroom they'll one day lead. 🌸

This is Montessori teacher education: not just mastering materials, but discovering the quiet delight of Practical Life: order, purpose, concentration. The joy isn't separate from the work, it is the work.
