“With technology, the intimidation factor for people can be high, so being able to get students comfortable and confident with it from an early age is a great benefit. At CodeAdvantage, our K–12 curriculum focuses on fundamental concepts, hands-on activities, integrating arts and crafts. These kids learn the if/then principle, basic drag-and-drop, and building code. You want students to reach a point where they understand the line of code and the logic behind it — and make it fun in the process.”

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela

Across the United States, only 51% of public high schools offer foundational computer science in their curriculum. By investing in STEM education for your child, you are setting them up to make a difference in the near future.

Lua is one of the lead scripting languages used in video game making today. Roblox uses its own special version of Lua called Roblox Lua, which allows kids to be able to create and program their own environments and games. The language was developed to make it easy for anyone to understand, which is why it is easy for kids to learn it and let their imaginations run wild!

If your child is interested in learning Lua, check out our different Roblox coding class options!

❓What do you enjoy most about being an instructor?
The thing I enjoy the most about being an instructor is that all the students I teach are interested in topics that go deeper than our curriculum. Festering a love for technology and coding at a young age can really help these students thrive and be very successful in their futures.

❓What is your favorite thing to teach and why?
My favorite thing to teach is our Minecraft Harry Potter courses. We teach it in Minecraft education edition, which allows accessible forms of mod coding ingame for kids of all ages. For our younger kids, it allows them to drag and drop block code, but learn the basic principles of coding. For our older kids, it lets them learn to code in JavaScript! It is my favorite because it allows for anyone to be able to use the program and do anything with it. At the end of the lessons, the kids come up with so many funny additions to the game and I love to see the creativity that their minds hold!

“Whether you want to uncover the secrets of the universe or you just want to pursue a career, basic computer programming is an essential skill to learn.” -Stephen Hawking

In a world that’s so dependent on technology; educators, parents, and researchers have started embracing the possibilities that coding can bring for kids – not just in the classroom, but across the curriculum and into their futures.

Using a micro:bit circuit board, kids learn to CREATE and code with technology. We introduce simple controller mechanics so kids can apply it to coding games - making them feel more realistic and interactive. With this hands-on introduction to coding, kids will learn to connect the controller to other games, recreate common gaming concepts, and learn more complex fundamental coding skills.

If your child is interested in not only playing a game, but building and controlling it with their own hands, consider contacting us about micro:bit classes!
