Meet ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ก๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ณ, leader of our ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฌ workshop (June 6โ13). Registration remains open thru ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐!

For her spotlight, Jill reflects on some cherished memories from over the years:
โIโve made lifelong friends at ๐ข๐พ๐ถ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฝ๐ป๐ฒ๐ธ๐ผ. The most rewarding part is always seeing my students improve each session โ I love watching the pieces take shape throughout the week, and itโs a special thrill to see everyone grow in community as well as musically.
Piano night is always a highlight, too: Jan [Deats]โs style of teaching is so kind and yet so spot on โ I always learn something from her. And [Summertrios co-founder] Lily [Friedman]'s joyous spirit and dedication is ever present. One of my funniest memories is her description of getting a running start to scale the way-too-high mattress that the college provided!
I also love exploring new and interesting pieces at an intermediate level for my students. Recently I've encountered some truly lovely works (a Florence Price string quartet for example) that are technically within the right range, and I keep looking for more!โ

Dynamic educator and violinist Jill Schultz holds a Bachelorโs degree from City College, a Masters of Music degree from Stony Brook University and an EdD from Teachers College of Columbia University. She has performed with the Goldovsky and Lake George Opera Companies, the New Jersey Symphony, the Stamford Symphony, and the NYC Ballet. She has taught at the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College, and the Lucy Moses School, and has served as an educational consultant to the Lincoln Center Institute and the Little Orchestra Society. She is currently teaching in the Scarsdale (NY) school district, which, in 2009, was named the Best Community for Music Education by NAMM. Dr. Schultz has just received an award from Live at Lincoln Center for "Outstanding Student Performances" as demonstrated by her student orchestra.
