The core to GO’s model is the dedicated and experienced teachers who lead our academic support for students. Head Teacher Jon is a great example of that! Working over 7 years with GO during our summer program, Jon is a NYC Public School elementary grade teacher. He shared: “GO is my summer… I love the program.” 📚
Jon enjoys making learning fun by playing games, forming connections between the curriculum and students’ interests, participating in hands-on field trips, and even joining a game of soccer or tag with students after lunch. ⚽ Over the years, Jon has seen the impact of GO’s program on students who might otherwise fall behind. “Success for GO students is growth from wherever point each student is at. Academically this might mean they grew a number of reading levels, even if they still have more growth to get to grade level. And socially, growth might be having them make a few new friends or participating more in class. Relative to yourself, success is growth both academically and socially,” Jon shared.
Thank you, Jon, for making our students’ summer meaningful each year by making sure they receive critical academic instruction while having fun and growing in confidence.
