Throwback to 2023 when Okamoto Sensei came to our Christmas Seminar. She taught a class full of joy! We can't wait to experience this joy when she is with us for three whole days, October 2-4. You can come for one day, or all three days. If you are a beginner, or have years and years of training under your belt, you won't regret attending. We've rented a big mat so that all can move and experience the electricity that Okamoto Sensei always brings. Sign up today! https://www.nyaikikai.com/okamotoseminar

Yoko Okamoto Shihan - 63rd All J*pan Aikido Demonstration 2026 08/06/2026

As we turn to the fall, we are in full swing preparing for Yoko Okamoto Sensei's visit to New York from Kyoto, J*pan. Her seminar is October 2-4, and we are renting a large space and mats so that we can welcome locals and visitors from far and wide.

This is a phenomenal opportunity to experience Okamoto Sensei—a very sought-after teacher all over the world. If you haven't signed up yet, now's the time! If you aren't quite sure who she is, we'll soon be introducing her through an interview we recently conducted. In the meantime, here's a video of her at the 63rd All J*pan Aikido Demonstration this year.

We can't wait to welcome you back with...a new banner! Early this morning it got delivered and hung with a very big crane. The old one was holding on by a literal thread, so it was time. Just in time to greet Osawa Sensei and all of us back on Saturday at 11am!

While the dojo will be closed from Monday (7/27) to Friday (7/31), we look forward to training together at the USAF Summer Camp this week. And...we can't wait to welcome Osawa Sensei back to the mat at the NY Aikikai on 18th St. for a special class at 11:00am on Saturday (8/1) . All are welcome! There is no cost for NY Aikikai members; for everyone else it is $25.

Special thanks to Javier Dominguez for this photo from last year's camp.

Congrats to Harvey Konigsberg Sensei and Woodstock Aikido for a fantastic seminar last weekend! 40 years to celebrate is quite an accomplishment! Thank you for having Steve Sensei and Sharon up to teach in this place that means so much to us.

Aikido in solidarity with Venezuela!

Will you be in Florida on July 11? Know people there who can help spread the word?

This seminar at Florida Aikikai, taught by Venezuelan instructors, is a great way to help those effected by the earthquakes on June 24.
