Very excited and grateful to be holding tea ceremony at NYPD Precinct 19 as part of our Tea Ceremony in the Community course this semester. Along with members of the NYPD we are also glad to have Hunter College President Nancy Cantor, Dean Erica Chito Childs, members of the Hunter administration, the Japanese Consulate, and students from the Ella Baker School in attendance!
Our teacher, Mari Abe Kole sensei, highlighted the Hunter motto “Mihi cura futuri” or “Care of the future is mine” as today’s theme, noting how harmony, respect, tranquility, and purity, the four tenets of tea ceremony, can be applied by our tea ceremony students to their own lives as future leaders!
