In remembrance, Fordham Army ROTC gathered to honor the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The day began with a Benediction delivered by Father Regan of Fordham University. Following the invocation, Cadets and Cadre participated in a series of events dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
During a 2,200-step stair climb, we honored FDNY Chief John M. Moran, a Fordham Law graduate, and the countless FDNY firefighters who ascended the towers in an effort to save those in danger.
During a Skedco drag, we honored Mark Bingham and the passengers of United Flight 93, symbolizing their courage to regain control of the aircraft and their selfless determination to protect the lives of others.
With a water can relay, we honored Gen. John “Jack” Keane, a Fordham graduate and Army officer, along with the many service members who responded to the attack at the Pentagon. Despite the chaos and danger, they ran toward the impact area to help others evacuate.
Concluding with a wreath laying ceremony, Fordham Army ROTC continues to honor the lives lost and the extraordinary courage demonstrated on September 11, 2001. Their stories serve as a lasting reminder of the responsibility we carry to serve with courage, honor, and selflessness.
