PROSOPON SCHOOL OF ICONOLOGY NEW YORK CITY
The Prosopon School of Iconology introduces students to the practice and theory of the ancient Christian art of Byzantine icon writing. Apprenticeship in this discipline of the hand, mind, and heart can lead beyond technical competence; the method of study promotes the incarnation of the principles of the painting experience into the other sphere’s of one’s life. Because an icon is said to be the “Gospel in color,” the School welcomes inquiring students from all backgrounds and of all levels of artistic competence. The School also encourages the search for a more profound experience of the Christian icon by means of exhibits, lectures and publications.

With a deep sadness we regret to inform you that Olga Andrejeva, the wife, closest friend and faithful assistant of Vladislav Andrejev, the founder of the Prosopon school of Iconology and Iconography has passed away yesterday.

Her personal contribution and many years of participation in the school are invaluable and now we will all miss her greatly. We bring our deepest condolences to Vladislav Andrejev, his children Melania, Nikita and Dmitry, and all members of the family. Eternal memory to Olga. Вечная память и со святыми упокой, Царствие Небесное

The Museum recently received this beautiful icon of Sophia, the Wisdom of God by Vladislav Andrejev, the founder of the Prosopon School. This contemporary icon will be a part of a coming special exhibition, so stay tuned!
