I just listened to this interview and am ridiculously inspired by Mohammed Fairouz and his music. If you have the time (or can MAKE the time!) this interview is REALLY worth listening to.
Many of you know that On Being is one of my all time favorite things (yes, this includes books, magazines, tv shows, etc.), and this episode is right up there with the best of them. I feel proud to pursue music, art and poetry, communication and humanity. And I am reminded that there are reasons to hope for our world and to believe that the human race might just make it through the muck that can seem too pervasive to conquer!
(Oh- and now I feel like I must run out and listen to everything Mohammed Fairouz has composed. Am I totally behind the times?? I'd never heard of him!)

I had the opportunity to take a look around PS/IS 327 yesterday and begin planning next year's vision and arts implementation here with Scarsdale Strings! It's exciting and vital work, helping re-inegrate arts education into our public schools - I'm humbled to be involved. Take a look at this great article!
