The Children’s Aid Society helps children in poverty to succeed and thrive. Rucker School of Community Research. Everyone is welcomed!
We do this by providing comprehensive supports to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. Bronx Hope is one of Children's Aids Society's program located within the same building as Banana Kelly High School and Holcombe L. We offer programming during school hours and after school. We also go on amazing trips to go see the New York Knicks, visit college campus
es such as SUNY Stony Brook University, go to movie theaters, and even Dave and Buster! Below is our schedule:
Mondays: Career development where you develop your professional skills and
walk away with a resume to apply for employment over the summer
Tuesdays: Cooking class where you a are able to help cook delicious and healthy
plates such as curry chicken—and then enjoy the meal with your peers
Wednesdays: Teen speak out, where you are trained on a violence prevention
curriculum to then train other young people; which you can
eventually get paid for while you train other youth
Thursdays: Women’s group and men’s group where you are able to speak with
people of your gender about prevalent issues
Fridays: FUN DAYS! We go on trips, play card games, and do other fun activities
Anyone 14-18 years old can join, even if they attend a different high school! You can bring your friends, siblings, or cousins! Participation in our program can also lead to summer employment, scholarships for college, internship positions, and even the possibility to go on our annual trip to Germany! Our program is located in the building's small cafeteria, and our offices are located at B17. Come visit to learn more about the program!
