Harlem, the bass is calling. 🎸✨ The Harlem Jazz Series is thrilled to present Melissa Slocum on Friday, October 2, 2026.

𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺 is one of New York's most accomplished and trusted jazz bassists — a musician who studied with Milt Hinton, Rufus Reid, and Ron Carter, performed with Art Blakey, Lionel Hampton, Cab Calloway, Clark Terry, Wynton Marsalis, Woody Shaw, and Hank Jones, and has laid the groove for Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves, Nnenna Freelon, Jon Hendricks, and Ann Hampton Callaway. A member of the legendary all-woman big band DIVA and a force in New York's jazz scene since 1982 — Melissa Slocum is the real deal, and October 2nd is going to prove it.
