America Through the Eyes of Our Campers

What does America mean to a child?

Sometimes, the best answers don’t come from history books, speeches, or carefully prepared scripts. Sometimes, they come from the voices of children—honest, unexpected, funny, thoughtful, and completely their own.

As part of our America 250: Stars, Stripes & Summer Adventures, Ms. Adderley decided to turn on the camera and put some of our campers to the test!

No studying.
No rehearsing.
No prepared answers.

Just random questions about America, its history, its symbols, its people, and what being American means to them.

And as you are about to discover… when you ask a child a question, you never quite know what answer you are going to get!

Some answers may make you proud.
Some may make you think.
Some may surprise you.
And some will definitely make you smile!

But that is what makes these moments so special. These are their voices, their thoughts, and their view of the country whose story we have been celebrating all summer long.

Because America’s story isn't only about the 250 years behind us. It is also about the children who will carry that story into the next 250 years.

🏐💙 Volleyball Tryouts & Practice Are Underway! 💛🏐

The energy is high, the teamwork is growing, and another exciting volleyball season is officially underway at St. Raymond Elementary!

Our student-athletes are stepping onto the court with determination, enthusiasm, and a commitment to improving every day. Through tryouts and practices, they’re building more than volleyball skills—they’re developing confidence, discipline, leadership, and the importance of working together as one team.

We applaud every student who has accepted the challenge to compete, grow, and proudly represent the Raven family. Your hard work and dedication today are laying the foundation for a successful season ahead.

🎶🇺🇸 Two years ago, a camp tradition was born! 🇺🇸🎶

Two years ago, our music teacher, Mr. Connolly, was asked to create a chant that our campers could proudly sing together. With pen in hand, musical notes in his head, and plenty of camp spirit in his heart, he went to work.

Inspired by the rhythm of "We Will Rock You," Mr. Connolly wrote what has become our unforgettable "We Are Camp St. Raymond" chant. From the very first time it echoed through our halls, it united campers and counselors alike with energy, pride, and excitement.

Even today, two years later, the tradition continues. Every summer, our campers proudly raise their voices to sing the very same chant, keeping the spirit of Camp St. Raymond alive for a new generation.

Our Grades 5–7 campers put on their chef hats and created a delicious Boston Cream Dessert as part of our America 250: Stars, Stripes & Summer Adventures!

While enjoying this classic New England-inspired treat, campers explored a dessert connected to the rich culinary traditions of Boston, Massachusetts—one of America's most historic cities. From the first layer to the final topping, they worked together, followed directions, and created a dessert that was as fun to make as it was to eat!

Learning about America isn't just found in books—it can be discovered through its foods, traditions, and shared experiences.
