Under the instruction and guidance of an internationally renowned faculty, including Steve Wilson, Suzanne Pittson, Ray Gallon, Mike Holober, Adam Cruz, Tim Ries, Ray Santos and Carolyn Leonhart, and working alongside expert academic advisors, students reach their full potential as professional musicians poised to flourish in the New York jazz community, and around the world. The department's diverse student body currently represents every borough of New York City, every region of the US and countries such as Mexico, Sweden, Japan, France, Argentina, the island Trinidad, Switzerland, Israel, Germany, Canada, Korea, Brazil and many others. In addition to a comprehensive jazz theory curriculum, core classes include a variety of practical applications and performance opportunities such as rhythm section combos, small jazz ensembles with individualized instruction on performing original compositions and arrangements, large ensemble and Big Band, Brazilian Ensemble, Latin Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
