On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember, we honor, and we renew our commitment to unity and growth. 🌱

This morning, NYU President Linda G. Mills and a group of University leaders and deans joined community members and elected officials for a tree planting at the corner of West Fourth and Mercer Streets. During the ceremony to commemorate the lives lost on September 11, 2001, State Senator Senator Brian Kavanagh and State Assemblymember Grace Lee spoke, Jonathan Safran Foer read from his book “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” and participants were invited to panting of daffodils and purple asters as a symbol of resilience, hope, and our enduring connection to New York City. 💜

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and in partnership with 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps, all NYUers are invited to participate in a Day of Service on Sept. 10 as we help pack meals and write cards for local residents who rely on food assistance. Volunteers can participate on the 4th floor of the Kimmel Center and will help with event setup, meal packing, or breakdown between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Sign up: https://bit.ly/4hhnCxY

Welcome back to NYU Dentistry, Dr. Keri Discepolo, ‘01! 💜

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Keri Discepolo as our incoming Department Chair.

An NYU Dentistry alumna (Class of ‘01), Dr. Discepolo completed her AEGD training at Nova Southeastern University and her pediatric dentistry specialty training at Yale New Haven Hospital. She returns to us with a wealth of clinical and executive leadership experience, having previously served as: Department Chair & Program Director in Pediatric Dentistry at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Director of Operating Room Operations at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Dental Director at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Discepolo and look forward to the leadership and vision she brings to our department. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Discepolo back home to the NYU family!
